San Ramon, CA Home Prices: $300,000 to $2,500,000
San Ramon has become a very desirable town to reside in. With its ample shopping, wonderful restaurants, great diversity, notable schools and luxury living (whether in a Windemere Townhome or Norris Canyon Estate) families and couples are enjoying the many conveniences, ammenities and beauty that exist.
Long ago, San Ramon was home to the Seunen Indians and was named after an indian vaquero : Ramon who took care of mission sheep here in the valley. The "San" in San Ramon was added later according to Spanish custom. In the mid 19th century the Norris family purchased thousands of acres of land, others who settled in the valley as well were the Dougherty family and the Bishop family. San Ramon lied in the valley between the towns of Danville and Dublin. Flanked by hills, its borders extend from Norris Canyon to Mt Diablo. San Ramon became a significant center when in 1982, Bishop Ranch Business Park was built. It sits on 580 acres and houses approximately 6 millions square feet of office space.
San Ramon is now home to very new communities such as The Bridges along Bollinger Canyon with its beautiful vistas and Windermere which reaches almost as far as Tassajara Road. Many new communities also border Crow Canyon Road and Dougherty Road, with Crow Canyon Country Club and Gale Ranch to name a few. Although San Ramon does not have a downtown per se as Livermore, Pleasanton and Danville do with their picturesque streets and boutiques, San Ramon offers miles of restful countryside with the convenience of the modern world close by.
